View Article  PRE-K GRADUA TION INFO -- a letter from Miss Kim:
Dear Parents,

I know it’s hard to believe but your child’s time at St. Vincent’s is nearing an end. We are so sad to see the children leave but are excited for them as they begin a new journey. June 5 is the last day of school and graduation takes place on Sunday, June 7 during the 9:00 a.m. service. The caps and gowns have been ordered. If you purchased the entire package the cost is $17.50 or $4.00 for just the tassel. Please make your check out to the school and put in the tuition envelope. Caps and gowns will be handed out Wednesday, June 3. We will practice for graduation during school next week, so please do you best to have your child attend on Tuesday and Wednesday for this.

On Sunday, the children need to be in their classroom at 8:45 a.m. wearing their caps and gowns. Please drop off your child and proceed to the church. There is a nursery provided for children 5 and under. If you would like to leave your younger children for the service, please take them to Miss Sanja’s room. After church, there will be a reception in the Parish Hall honoring our graduates. We hope you will be able to stay and celebrate. Also, please feel free to bring as many guests as you would like. This is a very special day and we look forward to sharing it with you and your family and friends.
Lastly, please do not forget that you and your child will always be part of the St. Vincent’s family. We would love to have you visit and keep us informed on their progress and we are still here for you as a support system. We wish your child much success and will continue to pray for all our graduates.

With much love,
Miss Kim and the Staff at St. Vincent’s Academy

View Article  All Saints Party Pictures
Wasn't the All Saints Party great? Thank you again to all the volunteers that made it possible! I have set up an account at Kodak to share pictures. I am not sure how well it will work, but we can give it a shot. I have uploaded my pictures from the party and hope that you will choose a few of your favorites and upload them to the site. After a few days, I will send out an email that invites everyone to look at the photos.

Here's how... go to http://www.kodakgallery.com/Signin.jsp?&c=hom_signin_vis and enter stvincentsallsaints@yahoo.com as the email address and boo2you as the password. Choose the "Upload Photos" tab. Then, choose the link that says "add photos to an existing album."

Next, choose the All Saints Party album by clicking on it. Then, follow the directions on how to select photos to upload.

Good luck and thanks for sharing! Ms. Lynne

View Article  Neat New Show on PBS
I wanted to share with you a show I recently discovered on PBS. (I think it's pretty new.) It's called Word World. If you have the DVDs Leap Frog Letter Factory and Word Factory, it is similar to those. In WordWorld, words come alive, words save the day, and words become a child’s best friend. This show is perfect for emerging readers and those learning to recognize letters.

In WordWorld the WordFriends go on comic adventures and face challenges that can only be resolved with the right word. That word is built letter by letter, sound by sound, during the funky “Build a Word” song at the end of every episode. Once the word is built, it “morphs”–comes alive–into the thing it is!

Word building reinforces the pre-reading concept that letters (and their sounds) make words, and that words have real meaning…and power. The series also introduces literacy concepts that preschoolers will encounter as they become readers, such as sounding out letters and rhyming. But most of all, WordWorld helps children get excited about reading and see words as their friends.

The shows airs at 11:30am and 2:30pm on WMFE Channel 24 (Channel 2 on Brighthouse Cable). They also have some neat games on line. For more info, go to the web site http://pbskids.org/wordworld/parentsandteachers/index.html.

The Green Meadows Petting Farm Field Trip has been scheduled for FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19TH AT 9:45AM. The farm is located at 1386 South Poinciana Boulevard, Kissimmee 34746.

St. Vincent's does not provide transportation for field trips so you (or other responsible party designated by you) must accompany your child(ren). The cost is $10 per adult/child. The main tour concludes around lunch time (pack your lunch) but you are welcome to stay as long as you'd like.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

The Thanksgiving Luncheon has been changed to FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH AT 12:30pm.

And here's the exciting opportunity.... If you have a product/business that you would like to showcase with your St.Vincent's family, here's your chance! As a fundraiser for the school, one hour prior to the Thanksgiving Luncheon, you can set up a table in the Parish Hall and attendees will have the opportunity to shop before the children join us for lunch.

If you are interested in hosting a table, please contact Kim or Julieann in the school office at 407-843-1997.

Photographer Katie Kaufmann will be at St. Vincent's THIS WEEK on Wednesday, October 3rd and Thursday, October 4th.

Ms. Kaufmann takes candid black and white photos. You do not need to be present and there is no obligation to buy. In a few weeks, you will receive an 11x14 proof with ordering information. In years past, reprints have been received in time for the holidays.

Siblings are welcome. Let me know if you plan to do that so I can give you some time references so you are not waiting around all morning.
